Matsumoto Castle, Is one of the oldest castles in Japan still in its original form, Most were either destroyed in battle, fire, earthquake, or deliberately dismantled by the Shogun at some point of time, This castle was ruled by the 23 lords of Matsumoto representing six different daimyo families. In this period the stronghold was also known as Crow Castle because of its black walls and roofs looked like spreading wings.
